I took about 50 minutes worth of video and later discovered that much of it is useless for two reasons.
- Reason 1 is it is in the woods. This means there are a lot of trees between me and the opfor and this makes it difficult to see who I am shooting at.
- Reason 2 is I am right handed and have a tendency to shoot out of the right side of my bunker. The camera is mounted to the left side of my mask, so a lot of times the bunker blocks the camera's view of who I am shooting at.
What's left is about 4 minutes which doesn't feel like 4 minutes when it's over.
Here is the youtube video. Let me know what you think. Cheers!

I gotta say I am impressed with the clarity of video.
Looks like a good frame rate.
Sound was clear and not muffled.
Too bad there wasnt more action, but you never know what is going to happen.
What is the maximum run time for recording on a unit like that ?
What is the max GB card that you use in it ?
Is there a certain "high speed" rating on the card that is recommended for writing to card ?
What do you use to cover and protect the lens ?

I gotta say I am impressed with the clarity of video. Thanks, I am too. I love the fact that the camera shell is aluminum and it is water resistant. The waterproof housing is good up to 10 meters.
Looks like a good frame rate. With the 1080 setting you can only get 30fps. If I lower it to 720, then I can get 60fps which is what I'm going to switch to next time since paintball is a fast sport.
Sound was clear and not muffled. I turned up the audio sensitivity setting to the max because since it was rainy I knew I was going to put in the waterproof case which I was afraid would muffle the sound.
Too bad there wasnt more action, but you never know what is going to happen. I had 50 minutes of raw data. Lots of times the trees get in the way. I am a righty who prefers shooting out the right side of a bunker. My camera is mounted on my left side, so lots of times bunkers or trees would block a visual of my target and it's kind of boring to just see my marker shoot.
What is the maximum run time for recording on a unit like that ? I'm not sure. It's basically brand new and I fully charged the battery the night before. I was able to capture 50 minutes of 1080 video before I ran out of room. I would turn it on and off throughout the games.
What is the max GB card that you use in it ? I bought mine off of ebay as a combo with a 8GB card. It uses a micro SD card and can take up to 32GB.
Is there a certain "high speed" rating on the card that is recommended for writing to card ? I don't know, sorry. The Contour website has a forum and the people there might be able to answer your question.
What do you use to cover and protect the lens ? Nothing. If the lens should break or crack, you can get a replacement lens kit for 29.99 which includes 4 new lens, lens ring, screw driver, and a Lens Adaptor Ring so you can now screw on standard 37mm or 43 mm lens filters.
See above for my answers in bold.

At some point I will end up getting a video set-up as I have always wanted something to playback when I am old and toothless to reflect on my glory days.
Thanks for the answers.
I have an idea you might want to try for a cheap solution to protecting your lens. I have been working on beefing up the protection on a certain night vision set-up which has of course a camera and infra-red lights. What I did was go to lowe's and purchase a small piece of lexan, some rubber boots that go on chair legs and borrowed a hole saw. All you have to do is cut a hole at the flat end of the boot slightly smaller than the diameter of the lexan lens which would be cut with the hole saw. Push the lens into the wide opening towards the other end where it sops, then slide the remainder of boot over the housing it is going on. Total investment was 6 bucks. And for those out there who don't know... lexan is a.k.a. polycarbonate, the same stuff used in goggle lenses. ;D
