After leading the charge for using radios I find myself behind others in the use of throat mics. I did some internet research and found a few options different price points.
What are you guys using? Where did you get it? and how does it work for you?
I know that Daimyo has a box of high tech toys, what kind of throat mics are in you goody box?

greetings, i picked up a set of radios a couple of weeks ago and purchased a mid grade throat mic to try out, i also picked up a couple of standard clip on mics, i think the sound quality of the throat mic is a little muffled compared to the sound of the clip ons, we're planning on playing with them at the next open game, we'll see how they work and hold up in the field.

My leaving of the blue team only occurs when the shogun orders it. My first choice is always blue. But if you must leave a fellow smurf out in the cold I understand.

Well, said, sir!! I cannot deny you now!!! I cannot leave you or forsake you and thank you for the reminder! We are affiliated and in fellowship for the position we are in as Field Sergeants. And, yes, I too must follow the commands of the Shogun!
Midland Radio has a series of microphones called the Tactical Headset Series (T-H series). The series starts from TH1 to TH4. I have the TH1 (headset with boom mic and push to talk button/vox), TH3 (headset with push to talk button/vox) microphones and AVP-H8 throat microphone. I have allowed other players and Field Sergeants in Training use them. They have all enjoyed using them and that includes the throat microphone (AVP-H8). I have allowed Hunter and Field Sergeant in Training Daniel to use it and I heard them well and I have used it too and people could hear me. Now, there was a time when I had a problem with the throat mic (I could barely be heard but I could hear others) some time ago but no problems have arise since then. The ear piece for the AVP-H8 doesn't set well in my ear though for it tends to slide out a little. Other than that I like the AVP-H8 for what it offers and the price I paid for it. The TH4 is a higher quality throat microphone (the cost is higher than the AVP-H8) that Field Sergeant in Training Matt uses and from what I can judge he likes it! He has been using the TH4 since he has been playing here.
I don't know of any others currently with the exception of RAP4 throat microphones. Justin and his father Mr. Hambley had a pair and I could hear Justin well and he could hear me. I just don't know of the pros and cons of the RAP4 throat microphones. I hope that helps you out in your search! Before I forget, if you want to I will let you use my AVP-H8 throat microphone on our next game July 7th! Just let me know Xrugger!
Blue Team Forever!!

If you want a throat microphone like Matt then that will run around $120. That is Midland pricing. Now, that is just the microphone but I'm certain that you can find the same for cheaper if one looks.
The set up that I have consists of 2 radios and a TH1. The price that I paid was around $120. I have not found a package for what I have but I like what I got for it works! My radio setup suits my needs and I'm still having a good time playing paintball!!

Actually, you can get one like Matt's on Ebay for about 35-39 dollars, that is what I did....love it. It is the same as what Midland will sell you. Yes, if you bought it retail it will cost about $100.00.
